What to do with Common Emergencies?

Tooth Ache

  1. Over-the-counter pain relievers: Taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, can help reduce pain and swelling.

  2. Cold compress: Placing a cold compress on the affected area can help numb the pain and reduce swelling.

  3. Salt water rinse: Rinsing your mouth with salt water can help soothe irritated tissues and reduce pain.

  4. Clove oil: Applying clove oil directly to the affected area or using a clove oil-infused mouthwash can help numb the pain.

  5. Avoid extreme temperatures: Avoid consuming hot or cold foods and drinks until the pain subsides.

Knocked Out Tooth

If the tooth was a baby tooth don't place it back in the socket. Come in to see an Evergreen Dentist to ensure there is no real damage to the underlying tissue.

If the tooth is a permanent tooth and you are able to locate it we recommend using a toothbrush to brush off any debris and give it a quick rinse with warm milk or water. Make sure to handle the tooth by the crown (white part) and not the root. If you are unable to place the tooth back into the socket we then recommend keeping the tooth under your tongue until you are seen by a dentist. Your saliva will help to protect the roots. For the best prognosis for saving the tooth, you need to be seen by a dentist as soon as possible (within an hour). Please call the office at 204.339.0050 and we will try our very best to get you seen.

Lost Filling/Crown & Cracked Tooth

Rinse out your mouth with warm salt water. Remove the piece and place it in a bag to bring into the office. If there is any pain or discomfort take Advil or Tylenol.
